My Collected Youtube Shorts Animation 2023: Early in my channel I made several animated YouTube Shorts. All are mildly terrifying and feature wacky monsters and ominous sound design.
I showed my “work” in these films: that is, the drawings used to generate the animation. This was done, in part, to prove that THIS WAS NOT A. I. ART! But more so, I wanted to “break the fourth wall” between the viewer and myself, which is in keeping with my non-linear approach to art.
These animations are more akin to flip book art than professional animation, which is also in keeping with my approach.
YouTube’s “Low Barrier of Entry” Problem: YouTube is undergoing a contraction of content even while it grows as a media empire, and its “low barrier of entry” for creators means that A. I. content will eventually be a part of that equation, especially as infographic videos carve out a larger slice of the pie.
Alcohol versus Xylene Markers for Drawing: I accidentally discovered the difference between my alcohol markers and xylene markers during the course of filming a time-lapsed drawing. This video explains the crucial differences.
The second drawing predates the first, and also shows the hazards of xylene markers. This second drawing was not intended to be a “finished” drawing, as it was executed on Canson pen and ink paper, which (to be honest) is ill-suited for mixed media drawing. However, you never know where a drawing will take you.
